Holy Communion
At St. Paul Lutheran Church, we believe that “Holy Communion” is aptly named. It is a communion of Christ’s own body and blood with the earthly elements of bread and wine. Therefore, it is also a communion of Christ and the recipients of the Lord’s Supper, as well as a communion between the believers who receive the sacrament for the forgiveness of sins. Communion is an outward confession that testifies to our unity of doctrine. Therefore, we respectfully ask that only members of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) or Evangelical Lutheran Synod (ELS) commune today. This practice is called close communion because it emphasizes our wonderful fellowship with the Lord and with one another. If you have questions about this, please speak with Pastor Birsching or contact the office at office@stpaullutherantacoma.org.
